Two innocent Souls embarking on our mental journey towards obtaining our honors degrees in Industrial Psychology. Little did we know that our meeting was Divinely guided. We realized our Soul connection would be the golden thread, as individually and together, our lessons and growth were interconnected. Our lives are a tapestry of experiences woven together: from marriage, to infertility, to postnatal depression, loss, disappointment and heartache. In sharing our journey, we soon realized, that we were not there to challenge each other, but to support each other’s life journey in the most humbling, authentic and honest way.
Through each trial our friendship and Soul connection grew stronger. We appreciate how truly blessed we are and sought to learn how to deepen our connection.
We learned and experienced various holistic healing modalities along the path, but were always brought back to the truth of the Chakra System, the simplicity of a Course In Miracles teaching and the healing power of Yoga.
We were drawn to Transformational Yoga, for its message is that the answers lie within and you are your own guide to finding your truth.
Two decades after our first meeting, little did we know that the Divine had a beautiful plan for us. Together we journeyed to India, Auroville and under the guidance of Swami Vidyananad, we truly understood at a soul level what our purpose together was, finally the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. Although one can never know the final outcome of one’s journey, we were privileged to get a glimpse of the Divine’s plan for us, when we were offered the opportunity to be Director and Co-director of the first SriMa School of Transformational Yoga in Africa.
Our vision is to use the practice of Transformational Yoga, to empower individuals to take accountability and responsibility for Self at all levels. Our teachings have a ripple effect into families, friends, communities and humanity, bringing about healing and peace. The answers lie within and the Transformational System provides the space for one’s inner guidance to be heard. We have realised that yoga is not just a practice, but our way of life.
Through my journey with infertility, I started exploring Yoga as part of my search for a deeper connection to Self. What I discovered was a rich internal source of divine love and acceptance, understanding that the answers I was searching for, came from within me and not the external world. Regular practice of Yoga provided the space and confidence for my innner guidance to reveal itself.
While completing my Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, I experienced my first Transformational Yoga class and immediately felt a profound shift and inner knowing that I had found something very special. I had discovered a type of roadmap for honest, humble reflection of Self. Through this awareness, I was able to see the mirror of life around me, taking responsibility to own and heal my story.
I completed my 200-level Transformational Teacher Training in South Africa. I then fulfilled my dream of studying under the guidance of Swami Vidyanand, in Auroville India and certified as a 500-level Transformational Yoga and Meditation Master. My training solidified my belief, that Yoga is not just a practice, but a way of life. When we truly live our Yoga, transformation and healing takes place quickly and continuously.
I am humbled by the blessing of being given the opportunity, to be the Director of the first Srima School of Transformational Yoga in Africa, alongside my soul sister, Stacey Fraser.
Our dream is to empower students to go within, using the techniques of Transformational Yoga for a deeper connection to Self. By healing their own stories, the shift in energy filters out, bringing change and transformation to families and communities.
‘I looked around and wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that, then I realized I am somebody.’ This is the quote that defines my approach to living life. It is the essence of what my soul finds purpose in.
As we all do, I have many roles I play in life. I am a mom, I am a wife, I am a friend, I am a sister and a daughter. I am also a colleague. As a corporate working mom, I have found that the corporate working world holds so many graceful opportunities for true spiritual growth and personal progress. Every day I am surrounded by beautiful souls who walk alongside me on my journey.
One of my greatest passions is to assist others in the corporate world to find inner peace and balance within their environment.
I feel very blessed to have been able to explore various healing modalities from Reiki, Applied Kinesiology to Rune Readings. However after qualifying as a Transformational Yoga instructor I felt an awakening deep within my soul, a knowingness and an inner sense of calm.
After completing my training alongside my soul sister Lisa Holzer, we founded the South African branch of the Srima Transformational Yoga School. Together we know our energies can work for the highest and greatest good for all. We are committed to bringing about empowerment and healing at an individual level because as you heal yourself you serve humanity.
